۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
