The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the setting star, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
