Truly, it is the sending of the Lord of the Worlds. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 who sees you when you stand 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
