And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 26 and before him We created the jinn from smokeless fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
