Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Even then they say: 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, just for play. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
