He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he feareth 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and purified. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
