The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night, when it envelops, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
