(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
