He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe of God 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
