The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 it is no merriment. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
