Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
