The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
