Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 no caring friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
