The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
Almighty Allah's Truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
