The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
