The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
