۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 What, do we then not die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
