Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book the verses of which are explained in detail, the Qur’an in Arabic for people of intellect. 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
