The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
