The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 And by Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul, etc.), and Him Who perfected him in proportion; 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 And indeed failed is the one who covered it in sin. 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
