He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
