Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in a high Garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 and had not known my account. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
