Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 And We revealed to Musa, saying: Cast your rod; then lo! it devoured the lies they told. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 And what is it for which thou takest vengeance on us save that we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came unto us? Our Lord! pour out upon us perseverance and cause us to die as Muslims. 126
