The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
