He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble, pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
