The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said unto them: fear ye not? 142 Truly, I am a trustworthy messenger for you, 143 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 145 "Will you be left secure in that which you have here? 146 In gardens and springs. 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill. 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 those who spread corruption on earth instead of setting things to rights!" 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 "You are but a human being like us. Then bring us a sign if you are of the truthful." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel; it has a right to drink (water), and you have a right to drink (water) (each) on a day, known. 155 and do not touch her with malice so that there seize you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 159
