The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And the breath of morning 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
