The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
