The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
A beseecher besought the visitation of chastisement, 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, 2 From Allah, Owner of the ascending steps. 3 The angels and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] ascend to Him in a Day the measure whereof is fifty thousand years, 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 They deem it to be remote. 6 but We see it near. 7 On the Day the sky will be like murky oil, 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 And not a friend shall ask a friend, 10 They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children 11 his companion wife, his brother, 12 the kinsmen who gave him shelter, 13 and all those on earth. 14 But nay! for lo! it is the fire of hell 15 stripping away his skin, 16 It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience] 17 and amassed wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Indeed man is created very impatient, greedy. 19 When evil toucheth him, he is bewailing. 20 And, when good befalleth him, grudging; 21 Except those who pray, 22 who are constant in prayer; 23 and those in whose wealth there is a known right 24 For the beggar and the destitute. 25 and who accept as true the [coming of the] Day of Judgment; 26 And those who are fearful of the chastisement of their Lord-- 27 for none is secure from the punishment of their Lord, 28 who guard their carnal desires 29 Except in the case of their wives or those whom their right hands possess-- for these surely are not to be blamed, 30 But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers. 31 And those who protect the property entrusted to them, and their agreements. 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies; 33 And those who are mindful of their moral obligations. 34 all these shall live honourably in the Gardens. 35
