Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one any magician?” 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
