But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave the Book to Moses so that they may be guided. 49 And We made Mary's son, and his mother, a Sign, and We gave them refuge on a lofty ground, a peaceful site with springs flowing in it. 50
