Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
