He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
