And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
