Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
