The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
