Thamood, too, belied Our warnings. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 (Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 They called together their companions and agreed to slay the she-camel. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Verily We, We sent upon them one shout, and they became as the stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
