50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 And [by] the winds that spread [clouds] 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 Whether of Justification or of Warning;- 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 So when the stars are made to lose their light, 8 when heaven shall be split 9 and when the mountains are scattered like dust, 10 and when the Messengers' time is set, 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement? 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 Then We will follow them with the later ones. 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 Then We placed it in a secure resting-place, 21 for an appointed term? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 nor will they be allowed to proffer excuses. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 40
