Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
