Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
