The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
