And whoever is averse to the Remembrance of the Most Gracious, We appoint a devil upon him, who stays with him. 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 And when he comes before Us, he shall say: 'Would that there had been between me and you, the distance of the two Easts' Evil is the companion. 38 It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allah's remembrance and His worship, etc.) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarin) in the punishment. 39 Can you make the deaf to hear, or show the blind, and those lost in clear error, the way? 40 And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them. 41 Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability. 42 So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. You are truly on the right path. 43 Verily it is a great source of eminence for you and your people, and soon you will be called to account concerning that. 44 Ask those of Our Messengers We sent before thee: Have We appointed, apart from the All-merciful, gods to be served? 45
