The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
