The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
