The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
