The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
