The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He has created man: 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
