Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
