The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
