The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
